Belief #01

Shambhu had made up his mind that God does not exist,

Inspite his father’s consistent efforts, he continued remaining atheist.

His chemist shop was centered in Ratlam,

Skilled at his work, being 20 years spent,

It was like not less than an achievement.

The only habit was to get engrossed on his phone when he was free,

Facebook, Twitter, Insta, You-tube with a cup of coffee,

This pandemic was not easy for him, being completely occupied,

In free time, it was his phone which kept him satisfied.

Unknown of the fact that his habit changed to addiction,

Phone now became a hindrance, web-series  increased his frustration,

It was June this year his street was flooded due to heavy rains,

A boy knocked his door as it was shut to avoid muddy stains,

“I desperately need this medicine”, he said, “My mom is detected positive”,

Occupied on his phone, Shambhu did not respond constructive.

He read the prescription, but his attention was towards the climax of an episode,

Unknowingly grabbing wrong tablets, a disastrous consequence was to explode.

The boy was too young to read whether medicine received was as prescribed,

He ran like someone was to die, his worry for someone close was signified.

Last episode ended and Shambu regained his senses,

Cleaning the shelf, soon realized, his blunder could not repay the losses.

What if the lady consumed medicine ? What if the heavens make me responsible ?

For a tragedy which could have been averted, wasn’t a simple attention possible ?

Trying to look out of door, if he can get glimpse of that young boy,

Repenting his mistake, no actually a crime, as a life was about to destroy.

Anxiety was at its peak, fear, anger, guilt at same time,

His father flashed in his mind who once said,

“Pray from your heart, everything is subordinate to the Divine”

Closing his eyes for the first time, literally pleading for assistance,

Tears started flowing, the door was knocked again,

Unexpectedly,  same young chap again came to his appearance.

“Can you please help me with that medicine, it slipped from my pocket on the way”

Shambhu could just not believe his ears to experience such a magical display.

Without hesitation, he handed over medicines, this time the right one,

Denied accepting payment, thanking Divine for the first time for all that He has done.

Only one prayer was enough for Shambhu to get him out of grief.

Was it the patient, or was it him, whose prayer was answered,

Ultimately sowing a seed of BELIEF
