Another Independence Day

 "Another” Independence Day

And “another” Independence Day,

which gradually passed away.

It wasn’t as usual due to pandemic ongoing,

Patriotic songs, what’s app messages with different renditions kept flowing

With 73 years of independence, time just kept flying,

Another day, another month, another year, the calendar kept signifying,

We have transitioned drastically since we got freedom,

This journey with its ups and downs explained the true value of wisdom.

For years, several jawaans have lost their life on battlefield

Pulwana, Doklam, Galwan, and many more, they protected us as human shield

Again my mind started throwing this question,

Weren’t they somebody’s dad, somebody’s husband, somebody’s son ?

Somebody who just gave up his life without seeking any attention ?

How can someone be so adamant to serve the nation ?

How can someone be ready to loose their identification ?

How can someone sacrifice their life without any indemnification ?

The most we do is remember their sacrifice, sing glory of their determination.

But can we ever re-pay their due consideration ?

 

I don’t think these Martyrs would even expect anything in return,

Their selfless service comes first, ready to let everything else adjourn.

This year let us find a cause of our own to serve our nation,

“Nation First” before any personal gratification.

Lets promise, next year shouldn’t be “Another” Independence day

Sending messages and sing glories of patriots,

Let us not waste time to debate on petty other issues like idiots  

Let us take a step building towards monumental change

This way a true patriot will be born again,

And it will be our actual “Tribute” to Martyrs in exchange.
