Mamata (Mother's Love)

Allen was very disappointed with his mom.

She had only one eye and he thought her to be an embarrassment for everyone.

In school, once she was called to report Allen's performance,

He was frustrated of becoming laughingstock beyond his tolerance.

"Don't you ever come with me, Mom, your horrifying face is like a curse now

"Be away from my social life". Without a word her Mom agreed somehow.

His attitude worsened, with years passing by,

After graduation, he shifted to other town close by,

When mom ask him to see her sometime, he would not hesitate to deny,

He has now settled and his kids were growing,

When mom gave a surprise visit, 

Instead of welcoming, he started brawling,

"Why you want to scare my kids with your face,

We are happy here, so you are at your place,

Please leave us alone" he uttered in disgrace.

"No problem, Its only that I didn't see you all since long,

Hence, thought to meet you, Eventually its one blood to which we all belong.

I am sorry for spoiling your day, didn't mean it, just got carried away".

Leaving the house without even entering, carrying a small bag as she had planned to stay.

After some months, a college reunion was arranged,

Back to old town to meet friends, Allen's thoughts changed,

Decided to visit his mom and apologize for his conduct,

Knocking the door, no answer, but a page which instructs,

"Consult Allen Fernandes, for any concern,

Woman at this home has left for heavenly abode. 

She was indeed a wonderful person"

Allen's world erupted in split of a second

Taking key from neighbors, entering the room,

The very moment where he wanted to abscond,

Last letter by Mom, his shivering hands read,

"I may have not been a fantastic mother,

My one eye has always kept you bother,

I could not meet all your needs,

But, a mother is always proud when his son succeeds

Have you ever thought, why I had only one eye son?

I was fortunate to donate it to you without hesitation.

When you met with an accident when you were 2,

Witnessing the world with one eye would have been your biggest limitation.

I have seen my world though your eyes son,

Thank you for everything, it's time to reach my destination."

Devastated, Allen was left with tears, guilt as he could not repay the compensation,

Of all Mamata which his mom showered without any expectation.
